On January 23, 2007 fellow producer and associate David "Disco D" Shayman
committed suicide. Disco D was a up and coming producer and is famous for his record with 50 Cent " The Ski Mask Way". I meet Disco D during the making of his DVD. He was a cool dude and
always showed a lot of love towards me.

What Does JUDAH Mean?
When I was thinking and debating of a production name, I always said my name had to mean something and in my quest to gain spiritual knowledge I studied the Israelites. And therefore I choose the name Judah.
Judah is a biblical name and is the original name of the Tribe of Judah. Judah is symbolized by a lion. The Lion of Judah has its origins in the Book of Genesis. There are 12 tribes of Israel and because of the lion’s link to the Tribe of Judah that makes the tribe of Judah the dominant tribe among the other Israelites. The tribe of Judah has ties to Ethiopians and the Rastafarian belief.

Ruin's single "BE ME" produced by JUDAH is still on the charts.
Every producer in the game knows at some point throughout their career they had time were they doubted themselves and/or felt like quitting. If you haven't had that moment yet you probably will but I know one thing I had mine recently. Over the last 2-3 months I wasn't feeling music and/or making music for that matter. I asked myself daily "if the music business/ production game is for me" and at the end of the day I had no answer. Just recently I recieved an answer. This answer has inspired me emotionally, mentally and physically. Just when you feel like giving up god gives you something to hold on to so you wont give up on what you were put on this earth to do. He came at a crucial hurdle in my life and help me over it!

Judah Interviews Big Noyd
JU: What's up with the album?
Noyd: It's crazy dog, I'm out in D.C. getting a lot of love you know.
The name of the album is " On My Grind" dropping January 25th
on Noyd/Monopolee records.
JU: Who you got on the album?
Noyd: I got Havoc, Prodigy, Alchemist, and The Infamous Mob. I got production
by Alchemist, Havoc and this new cat named Ric Rude. He done joints
for Nore, Funk Flexx and a few others.
JU: What's your goal for "On My Grind"?
Noyd: The goal for this album is to go from artist to that artist/entrepreneur
shit. I really just want to sell some units to really make my
label pop you know.
JU: What's your goal for 2005 and beyond?
Noyd: I'm just trying to learn as I go along. It ain't
easy doing it yourself and everyone feel like they can do the
indie label thing but it ain't that easy. I been on my own since
I was 15 and that knowledge I got from being on my own is what's
holding me down. My goal for 2005 is to make it happen on my own.
If any mistakes happen I'll be able to blame myself and not have
to blame the next man.
JU: Why did you start your own label?
Noyd: My experience in the game is a lot of labels sign people
off of hype. Alot of dudes get signed because their man was on
or their man put them on. Labels don't go to the middle of the
projects in D.C.; they don't go to the projects in Queens or Brooklyn.
They always rely on someone to bring someone to them who ain't
real. I wanna be that artist/c.e.o to go get that talent in the
hood, put them on Noyd Inc. and let them shine. I don't to sign
no wannabe Jay-Z's or 50's.
JU: Let them know the truth about this Mobb
Deep breaking up or beef with Littles, Keith Murray and whoever.
Noyd: The truth is Mobb is a family man. We got dragons on our
hands and to know the truth talk to a dude that has a dragon on
his hand. Dudes out here got their own motives and you gotta see
through the smoke sometimes. Who is this dude? He's a nobody!
I don't even know this dude. I just want to tell the people that
Mobb Deep will never break up it's never gonna happen. Mobb Deep
and OB for life. Whether we sell records or flop we gonna do it
together.
JU: When your said and done with the Hip
Hop, What do you want people to remember you for?
Noyd:
I want to show the people my growth. How I came on the scene spit
memorable lyrics that people can recite and how I put out my own
albums out on my own label. I want them to know I came from nothing
and made something out of myself and I want them to know they
can do it too.
JU: Any last words before we go party?
Noyd: Honestly from the bottom of my heart, I'm a fan of hip-hop
first and if anything that has my name on it it's gonna be hot.
I love rap! I don't want to see this shit disappear man.
Judah Interviews Corey Gunz
JUDAH: What brings you to D.C.?
C.G.: I'm on my promo tour to promote my album entitled "The Commencement"
and also to promote the single that should be dropping soon.
JUDAH: Tell everybody a little about the
album.
C.G.: The album basically a mix of street records,
club records, stories the whole nine. It's something on there
for everyone! Every fan base I'm trying to cover. I'm just trying
to make it a classic album and give something to everyone.
JUDAH: What are you bringing to the game
of Hip- Hop?
C.G.: I'm trying to make a name for myself.
When people name the top five rappers I'm trying to be up there
you know.
JUDAH: Who do you try to pattern yourself
after in the game? Who did you grow up on?
C.G.: Besides
listening to Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz, I listen to Nas, Jay-Z,
Eminim, Luda, B.I.G and god rest his soul Big Pun. Can't forget
about the legends like Rakim, Kane and them.
JUDAH: How was it growing up the son of
Peter Gunz?
C.G.: My pops had New York's anthem for a minute.
The single almost went 3X platinum. They still doing paid shows
overseas. That song helped the Bronx out a lot. He was a wonderful
influence on my career.
JUDAH: What features we got on the album?
C.G.: I got my crew the Militia and Ryan Leslie and that's about
it.
JUDAH: Who you got on there production wise?
C.G.: I got Rodney Jerkins, Nottz, Rockwilder, TrackMaster and
we're looking to get Scott Storch and Hi Tek. The album is almost
complete but we wrapping up two more songs.
JUDAH: What's your favorite track on the
album?
C.G.: I got a concept song on my album called "1668"
that's my building number and it's a story that's taking you to
each floor of the building breaking down the story of each floor.
I also like the Hi-Tek record because it a party type beat. It
was originally an Eminim beat but he ain't want it so I bought
it. "Keys" is also a serious club banger that's produced by Rockwilder.
JUDAH: Any last words?
C.G.: Be on
the look out for the new single "Shake" and go get the album when
it drops.

THE REAL
Over my last 7 years in the production game, here are some tips and words of wisdom from some of the industries top producers. Oh yeah some of these are mine also ...
1. SAVE YOUR HOTTEST BEATS!
Save your hottest beats for when you get on
or have a chance to get on!
2. WATCH WHO YOU PLAY BEATS FOR!
Especially up and coming producers.
If your hot and the other producer
is not so hot they will listen
and copy your style.
3. THE INDUSTRY IS SUPER SHADY!
Nowadays almost every A&R manages
a producer or producers. So why will
they give you work and not get paid
anything, when they can give their
producer(s) work and get 20%.
That sound like some KICK BACK
MAFIA STUFF! LOL
4. GET YOUR FIRST HALF!
Get your first half (50%) before you
track a beat for a major artist. Get all
(100%) before you track a beat for
an independent artist.
5. WATERMARK YOUR BEATS! Put something
on your beats( Somewhere where they
can't get a good loop) so it's hard for people to
loop it, add drums and flip it.
PROTOOLS IS CRAZY!
6. SMACK THE SHIT out of "so called"
producers that download beats off the
internet and sell them to artist.
7. KNOW YOUR WORTH! When you
blow up, charge them artist and labels
what your worth! TAX THEM, TAX THEM,
TAX THEM!
8. DON”T PLAY YOURSELF!
If you haven’t produced not one record don’t
try to charge an artist or label $100,000.
BE REAL!
9. MAKE THEM RESPECT YOUR SOUND!
Try not to copy a well known producers
(DRE, NEPTUNE, JUST BLAZE) sound.
It might make you some bread now but they
will not respect in the end. RESPECT IS BIG
IN THIS GAME!
10. CREATE A BUZZ FOR YOURSELF!
If you think artist and A&R’s are going
to find you and your not producing records
independently . IT GONNA BE TOUGH!
11. STAY HUMBLE! On the real producers
make more wack beats than hot beats.

Judah Interviews Jim Jones
JU: When is the album coming out?
JJ: Album comes out August 24th. It's called " On My Way to Church".
JU: Who you got on the album as far as production?
JJ: I got T.I., Lil Flip, Bun B, Bizzy Bone, Chico Debarge and
the whole Dipset fam. Producers I got Heatmakerz, Blackout, Boo-La
and myself. I also got a few new cats on there also.
JU: Why did you decide to do a solo joint?
JJ: On the real, the majors was shitting on me, they ain't want
to give me the money I deserved. Then there are a lot of artist
and people out there misleading our youth, as far as coming up
in the ghetto. You smell me? They glamorizing it too much of the
shit. Everybody have their own way of telling a story and I'm
telling mine.
JU: How different is it doing a solo joint
from doing a group album?
JJ: It's not that different, new crew help me but I pretty much
kept the same format, which took some of the stress of me.
JU: How long did it take you to do this
joint?
JJ: It took me bout 7 years to do this album. That's how long
I've been in the game.
JU: What's your favorite record on the album?
JJ: My favorite record is "Around My Way. It explains who I am,
where I've been, what I've done and what I've been through.
JU: Let's get into that Mase beef. What's up with that?
JJ: Ain't nothing really going on. The "Reverend" was out of hand.
I knew him, I grew up wit him! He wasn't always rapping, I was
hustling. He came back to my town saying this and that, slandering
our name. He was talking bout stuff that was not true. I had to
call and tell the truth and the media took it out of hand. It
was more personal than anything. If he ain't say our name I would
have not called up to Hot 97. JJ: The media got it all fucked
up!
JU: What's in the future for Jim Jones?
JJ. I got another album coming out in 9 months. A few surprises
you know, major moves being made. They gotta hear what I have
to say now!
JU: How is it working with KOCH (Independent) oppose to a major?
JJ: Koch is a business at the end of the day, so the artist that
the majors don't fuck with Koch will fuck with cause it still
makes money.
JJ: Koch is a beautiful thing cause if you a smart person you'll
know they are a way to put albums in the stores. I fuck wit Koch!
Jones say's he's still trying to get to church and along the way,
he'll continue to drop pearls of wisdom for others to pick up
along the path that he's paved for them. But he feels he's getting
closer. He's already reached some of his goals, he says. "People
might think my goal is to sell a million records. No! I already
passed my goal. I did it. Being in the game is my goal. This is
my first album. Just to get on it and get the shit in the stores-I
reached my goal. Everything else is just a blessing."

Judah Interviews Cormega
You know when artist that I respect come to my city I gotta click
up with them not just only to give beats but to build with them
on the business and personal level.
I met one of the realest dudes in rap, Cormega about a year and
a half ago and its been on ever since. He came back to D.C. and
we hooked up and heres "some" of the stuff we talked about.
Judah: Whats the deal with Legal Hustle
Ent.?
Cormega: I dont want people to get it confused its a feature album,
not a cormega album.
XXL tryed to carry me and gave me a L cause he said I had too
many features.
But people need to understand it is Cormega Featuring...
Judah: So who are the features?
Cormega: I got M.O.P., Ghostface, AZ, Lake, Maino, Kurupt, Jayo
Felony, Vibez Kartel, Large Professor, Donia.
Cormega: This is just to set up my next solo joint.
Judah: Whats the next solo joint?
Cormega: The Testament. The album thats been done since 1999 and
Def Jam was holding it up.
Then my 3rd solo joint called Urban Legend.
Judah: How do like indie opposed to being
on a major label?
Cormega: Being Independent gives you the freedom to do what you
want as an artist.
Theres no excuses, I dont have to do features with artist that
I dont respect and
I choose my release dates. Im not concerned about going gold or
platinum, gold and platinum is when someone tells me how much
they love my music.
Im from the era of Rakim, KRS, GRap, and Kane.
Judah: Whats the vision for Legal Hustle
Ent.
Cormega: Legal Hustle is going to be a close knit family environment.
I got Donia, and I got 2 artist locked up right now. The type of roster I got are the type that as soon as they leave the studio they are back in the streets.
I dont want a big roster because now that im a company I am responsible for peoples lives and I have to give them my attention.
Judah: Thats whats up! Leave them with some
words before we go party.
Cormega: Much love to the fans!

Ladies Doing It For Themselves
By JusBam
Mixtapes have created and destroyed the careers of some of the
hottest hip-hop artist today. They define who's hot and who's
not, and turn nobodies into some-bodies. Cha Ross-Estes, owner
of WHY? Entertainment has changed the game. She teamed up with
producer Judah and released their first ever all female mixtape.
"Ladies First" hit the streetz with much success and praise. Cha
and Judah collected 13 of the hottest females in the metro underground
rap scene and prove that the ladies are doing it for themselves.
S: What's the vision behind Why Entertainment,
What made you decide to start up a company?
Cha: I ran into so many artists who were looking for different
places to perform. I thought what can I do to help, so I decided
to start my own company and do it my way. Thats how Why Entertainment
got off the ground.
S: Where did the idea for the All Female Mixtape come from?
Cha: Because it had never been done, actually Judah introduced
it to me because I had never done a mixtape before and really
didn't have too much knowledge on how to do it. By him already
having a lot of Mixtapes out there on the street we met up and
he told me the ins and outs of how to do it.
S: Judah I come to you , you have to admit
this was a risky project. One it had never been done before. Two
female emcees are scarce we are one or two of twenty. What gave
you the idea to put all female on a mixtape?
Judah: I just wanted to do something different. I'm looking at
the mixtape game and It's ruled by men and there are alot of tight
independent female artist out there. Why not do it, we have the
avenue to do it why not do it. Then I recognized what Cha was
doing. Then I met her and she was doing shows, so I thought she
making moves, maybe she can do something with the idea.
Judah & WHY? Entertainment, LLC are again looking for talented
FEMALE ARTIST in all genres to include on yet another BANGIN'
All-FEMALE MIXTAPE If you think you have what it takes to be part
of this exciting project coming straight out of DC, must register
online: www.dcstx.org/registration.html!
Submissions can include: Freestyles, Drops, Singing and Rhyming

New Judah Article from Midatlantichiphop.com Judah
Article
Rolling Magazine Article June 2003
With the courage of a lion and a name like Judah, the music industry
is nothing but a lion's den for this 24-year-old native Washingtonian.
Judah, one of the metropolitan areas most sought after producers
of music, is doing what it takes to make his mark on listeners'
ears. With a debut project in stores now, a production company,
and a desire to break through the mainstream music industry, Judah
is confident it's only a matter of the right track, right artist,
and the right time.
The world of music is no easy challenge for anyone, and for those who have caught on, it is a learned fact that it is not always who you know but more so, who knows you when it comes to major music sales. Making music for approximately seven years now, this island descendant has found himself selling tracks, two to three at a time. Starting out of his home, then venturing out into his own studio, forming The Synce Lab, his production company in Temple Hills, Maryland, Judah is all about business when it comes to the marketing and selling of his creations.
"I produce music anywhere from alternative hip-hop, hip-hop,
rock, Ethiopian, to dancehall," says Judah. He claims his
sound is " limitless," classifying his music as "just
music," Judah takes note of his ability to be versatile and
charismatic when it comes to producing tracks, similar to his
appearance and style. He is not easy to imitate when it comes
to his craft. Such labels as Protect Ya' Neck Records, Trauma
Unit Records, Adversary Entertainment, Relentless Entertainment
and others, have all invested in a "Judah track".
Alongside the numerous independent artists that Judah proudly
mentions, "have my drumline somewhere in their songs," there are
several local creative projects that, unannounced, have been entirely
produced by Judah. The reason he thinks he's going to make it
in the industry is due to his willingness to explore different
types of music and sounds. "A lot of producers are afraid to try
different things." explains Judah. With a musical background including
the keyboard and bass, continuing even still with regular piano
lessons, Judah is serious about being recognized as one of the
best in the business, and working continuously toward this goal.
"I represent the average brother out there that has the energy,
grind and willingness to make his own impression on the world,"
states Judah. "I'm a producer, I give vision", says Judah. His
own vision coming together, it is not uncommon to find this music
guru in the studio putting together a track, or helping an artist
get their project running. Coming from a city known for its love
for Go-Go, Judah still sees the challenge in trying to get his
music in the D.C. listeners' ear.
If looking for a Judah track, his mixtapes, Unknown Soldiers
and It's Our Time, are in select stores, and local station WPGC
95.5 is playing Judah's track behind the artist, 'Snook The Crook'.
So, listen soon, and don't miss out, It's worth the listening
experience!
